Data Collection & Storage

CloudShaper is built with privacy at its core. We follow a local-first architecture:

  • Your word cloud designs are stored only in your browser using IndexedDB
  • No user accounts, no registration, no tracking
  • No data is sent to our servers except for optional AI analysis (see below)
  • History, favorites, and preferences never leave your device

AI Text Analysis

When you enable AI mode for semantic analysis:

  • Your text is sent to Vercel AI Gateway which routes to OpenAI GPT-5-nano
  • Text is processed temporarily for analysis only
  • We do not store your text on our servers
  • OpenAI's data usage policies apply (temporary processing, not used for training)
  • You can disable AI features entirely and use frequency-based word clouds

You control when AI is used - it's opt-in via the "AI Mode" toggle.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand site usage and improve CloudShaper:

  • Page views, referrers, and basic usage statistics
  • No personal information collected
  • No tracking across websites
  • Cookie-free analytics

Cookies & Local Storage

CloudShaper uses browser storage for functionality only:

  • IndexedDB: Stores your word cloud history and favorites
  • localStorage: Stores preferences (theme, default settings)
  • No third-party cookies
  • You can clear this data anytime via browser settings

File Uploads

When you upload files (PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT):

  • Files are processed client-side in your browser when possible
  • Large files may be sent to our server for text extraction only
  • Extracted text is returned immediately and not stored
  • Files are never saved on our servers

Share Links

When you use the "Share" feature:

  • Design settings are encoded in the URL itself (no server storage)
  • Text content may be truncated in URLs for length limitations
  • Anyone with the share link can view and remix your design
  • Share links do not identify you personally

Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal data, there's nothing for us to delete or export. However:

  • You can clear your local history/favorites anytime in CloudShaper settings
  • You can export your history as JSON for backup
  • You control all your data - it's in your browser, not our servers

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as CloudShaper evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
